I am a beginner, a virgin blogger if you will. My love of writing began when I was very young. I was the youngest of six children and often spent hours entertaining myself. It was reading and writing that I found to be the most enjoyable form of entertainment because I could sit for hours and just let my imagination take me away. The first story that I remember writing was written in the second grade. It was a mystery novel that I was quite proud of. It was pages and pages of very vivid imagery and it contained all of the necessary elements to make my mystery a best seller; twists and turns, suspense, plenty of intrigue, just the right amount of action and adventure and it had a surprise ending that was impossible to foresee. It was neatly printed on my Big Chief tablet and was accompanied by an illustrated cover as well as pictures scattered throughout the text, all intricately drawn and colored with Crayola crayons. I remember beaming with pride when the teacher handed back my assignment with a HUGE A++ written in the upper right hand corner. She had also taken the time to jot a personal note under the grade, “Lori, what a great story. You have a very vivid imagination and your handwriting and illustrations are really very impressive. Keep up the good work!”

That was 40 years ago and I’m still trying to top that story. It might have been the only Moby Dick I have in me and I must admit that I’ve never really forgiven my mom for not rushing that story to the nearest publisher because I know if she had I could have retired by the age of 10. But alas, she didn’t and I didn’t and I’m still trying to make ends meet like everyone else. I have written from time to time over the years just to keep my imagination busy and my mind active and challenged.  I recently gave my business to my brother and relocated to Texas from Colorado to live with the love of my life and his two sons. This is the first time in 34 years that I haven’t been employed at a full time job and I now have more time for writing.

I have had various jobs over the years;  receptionist, secretary, executive secretary, specialized analyst in the oil and gas industry, and the owner of a small business. Currently I am working part time as a substitute teacher in a small rural community in southwest Texas. Teachers don’t make much and substitutes make even less but I am enjoying the opportunity to be around the kids and I am beginning to get to know people. This also leaves me with free time so I have decided to spend more time writing. I am very lucky and very thankful that I have a partner that supports me and encourages me to express myself through writing.

I enjoy writing about many different subjects; my previous experiences and life lessons, my daily life, my newly formed family, my childhood, the kids and experiences as a substitute teacher. Over the years however, I have found the most enjoyable and challenging writing for me is erotica. I’m not sure how or why I started writing about love and romance and sex but I do know that it helps me exercise my mind and my imagination. Until recently I have never been brave enough to share this form of writing with anyone other than the sexy man I live with but I am going to start posting some of my fantasies and hope that my mother never finds this site. Although I’m guessing that she and my father had a bit of erotica stashed away somewhere or else I wouldn’t be the youngest of six kids.

So, whether it’s good, bad or ugly I’m going to attempt to put down a few good thoughts which will hopefully lead to a few good sentences and so on…..and so on……and so on. Who knows maybe someday I’ll come up with some material that actually entertains someone other than myself and the love of my life, my muse. As a writer it would be a great accomplishment if I could help someone else spend a little bit of time daydreaming, lost in the wonderful world of the imagination.

The imagination is everything, it’s a preview of life’s coming attractions.
